The TD-8840T Easy Setup Assistant is a guided configuration utility developed by TP-Link to help users easily install and configure the TP-Link TD-8840T ADSL2+ Modem Router. Originally packaged as a software application on an “Auto-Run” mini-CD bundled with the hardware, it automates the process of establishing a wired home internet connection. Key Features of the Assistant
Step-by-Step Guidance: The utility walks novice users through physical hardware cabling (connecting telephone lines and computer Ethernet cables) before initiating software settings.
Automatic DSL Detection: It automatically scans and detects ADSL settings to establish a rapid handshake with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
ISP Profile Matching: The assistant prompts users to input mandatory regional ISP credentials, including user names, passwords, and local VPI/VCI parameters.
No Manual Browser Configuration Needed: It allows full device deployment without requiring users to manually log into a web browser interface via local IP endpoints. System Compatibility and Alternatives
The standalone installation software application specifically supports older operating systems, natively targeting Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7 environments.
If you are setting up the device on a modern operating system (such as Windows ⁄11 or macOS) where the CD-ROM app is incompatible or a disc drive is unavailable, TP-Link provides an alternative method using the Web-Based Quick Start Wizard:
Connect your computer to one of the yellow LAN ports on the router via an Ethernet cable.
Open any web browser and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the URL address bar.
Log in using the default credentials (username: admin / password: admin).
Click on Quick Start on the upper menu bar and select Run Wizard to configure the network manually using the same sequence as the desktop app. TD-8840T | ADSL2+ Modem Router | TP-Link Nordic
