How to Use ASUS CopyProtect ASUS CopyProtect is a built-in security utility found on specific ASUS commercial notebooks and desktop PCs. It locks your sensitive files by preventing unauthorized data copying to external storage drives.
Here is a straightforward guide on how to set up and use this tool to secure your data. Step 1: Open the Application
The tool is part of the pre-installed ASUS business software suite. Open your Windows Start Menu. Search for ASUS Business Manager. Click on the application to launch it. Select CopyProtect from the main dashboard menu. Step 2: Set Up an Administrator Password
You must create a password to prevent others from changing your security settings.
Enter a strong password when prompted during your first launch. Confirm the password in the second text box. Click Apply or OK to save it.
Keep this password safe; losing it blocks access to your settings. Step 3: Block External Storage Devices
Once inside the CopyProtect interface, you can restrict data transfers.
Look for the list of hardware ports (USB ports, Card Readers, Optical Drives). Check the box next to the ports you want to lock down. Toggle the status from Unlocked to Locked. Click Apply to activate the restrictions immediately. Step 4: Test the Restrictions
Verify that the software is actively protecting your system. Insert a USB flash drive into your computer. Try to drag and drop a file from your PC to the USB drive.
Check that Windows displays an “Access Denied” or write-protection error. Step 5: Unlock Ports for Normal Use
When you need to legitimately transfer files, you can temporarily disable the lock. Open ASUS Business Manager and click CopyProtect. Enter your administrator password.
Uncheck the restricted ports or toggle them back to Unlocked. Click Apply to restore normal file transfer capabilities.
